Performance reviews may seem like a pain, but they are important for organizational growth. Here are some amazing performance review tips for managers who want to make sure that reviews run smoothly and for peers who want to give 360 performance reviews to their colleagues.

Prepare In Advance

A 360 performance review is not just a simple one-day process. It requires you to be prepared way ahead. You also have to prepare ahead of time for 360 performance review. Ask your employees to be prepared for the review well in advance, with some questions and successes. Also prepare yourself for the review meeting and decide what are the key points you want to discuss with each of your employees.

Communicate Clearly

In the review process, it is important to be clear and precise about what you are trying to convey to the employees. You can’t review their performance with just “Good Work/ Unsatisfactory Work” and be done with it. It helps neither the employee nor the organization.

Remember, the goal is to make your employees aware of the areas where they excel and the areas that need improvement.

Keep It Real

In this process, you don’t just review the past performance of your employees. You also set goals and objectives for your employees to work towards the next quarter. The goals should challenge the employee’s performance but at the same time should be attainable and realistic. But we know that writing goals and objectives for an entire quarter is not an easy task. Click here to know how to write good employee goals and objectives.

Discuss, Don’t Debate

Make your employees feel comfortable in the review meet. Do not debate with them about their low performance. Instead, discuss their problems and develop an action plan for them based on the areas that need improvement.

Express Continual Support

Remember to listen actively to your employee concerns and support them. Coordinate with your employees and frequently check-in on their progress. Also, check if they are provided with necessary tools and resources for their current project/task.

Review Regularly

The purpose of reviews is to improve employee morale and increase your organizational productivity. Reviews, when conducted regularly, motivate employees and give them an opportunity to improve themselves and focus more on their job goals and objectives. Begin using these tips in your review process regularly, and it won’t be long before you notice what difference it makes in your organization.
