When you’re in the midst of a difficult period, the signs of burnout can be easy to miss or ignore. It’s common for managers to assume that things will go back to normal once the quarter is over or the major project is finished – but that’s not always the case.

Fortunately, managers don’t have to accept impending burnout as their reality. They can use employee engagement software to be proactive about how their staff is faring before things get worse.

Here are five signs that your team needs to start using an employee engagement software.

Absenteeism

People are often absent and calling in sick. This is beyond general cold and flu season illness – perhaps it’s at an unusual time of year for sickness or the same employees are repeatedly ill. Stress causes strain on the body and it’s common for disengaged workers to report worse health conditions compared to when they were engaged.

Inconsistent Meetings or Processes

Managers don’t seem to be having regular meetings with their teams, and if they do, they’re inconsistent. There may be no established way of holding meetings, check-ins, communicating or managing other processes. If management is having these challenges, engagement software can serve as a valuable tool for them to get their team on track.

Employee Confusion

Employees don’t have a sense of how well they are or aren’t performing. They’re unsure of the expectations and if they’re meeting them. They often express confusion about processes or demonstrate inconsistency between deliverables.

This is a sign that the employees need firmer direction, a set of expectations and a model or example of what their ideal work product should look like – all of which that engagement software can help manage.

Low Performance

Performance has dipped or remained stagnant across the board. Your employees that were once high-fliers and superstars are now performing at an average or acceptable level, and your average employees are performing worse than usual. Many managers may see low performance as an action that requires discipline but it can also be a sign of disengagement.

Poor Morale

The morale in the environment is low and lacking enthusiasm. People are often sullen or unexcited. There is rarely, if ever, chatter or informal connection between staff members. Teams are lacking a sense of camaraderie and don’t seem to be rallying around a central goal. Poor morale is another sign of disengagement.

Engagement issues can become bigger than this, and high engagement has a positive impact on the wellness of the employees and the business. Managers shouldn’t let engagement problems fester or grow – with a solution like Engagedly, the organizational atmosphere can do a drastic 180.
